Boise State Wins on Late Field Goal

Antwaun Carter scored on a two-yard run with less than two minutes remaining, and Tyler Jones kicked a 46-yard field goal with three seconds left, rallying No. 21 Boise State to a 45-42 win over Tulsa on Saturday night at Tulsa, Okla.

Carter scored with 1:24 left to tie the score at 42-42 as the Broncos won their 17th in a row, the longest winning streak in the nation. Boise State is 6-0 overall and 3-0 in the Western Athletic Conference.

James Kilian threw three touchdown passes and ran for two scores for Tulsa (1-5, 0-2).

Boise State took possession at its own 39 with 46 seconds left. Carter picked up 13 yards in two runs and caught a nine-yard pass, helping move the Broncos to the Tulsa 28 and set up Jones’ winning field goal.

In other WAC games: Ryan Moats rushed for 186 yards and three touchdowns and Louisiana Tech (4-3, 3-0) rolled to a 41-10 victory over Southern Methodist (1-6, 1-3) at Dallas.... Josh Cummings kicked a 27-yard field goal to give Pittsburgh (4-2, 2-1) the lead on the first possession of overtime, and cornerback Mike Phillips then forced a fumble to preserve the Panthers’ 20-17 win over Boston College (4-2, 1-1) in a Big East Conference game at Pittsburgh.

WEST

Terrance Carter stripped the ball from running back Michael Franklin in the final two minutes to set up Jimmy Green’s game-winning touchdown as visiting Colorado State (2-4, 1-1) pulled out an improbable 21-17 Mountain West Conference victory over San Diego State (2-4, 0-2).... DonTrell Moore ran for 141 yards and a touchdown in 26 carries to lead New Mexico (3-4, 1-2) to a 24-20 win over host Nevada Las Vegas (2-5, 1-2) in a Mountain West game.... Curtis Brown ran for a touchdown and passed for another to lead Brigham Young (3-4, 2-1) to a 24-13 victory over Wyoming (4-2, 1-1) in a Mountain West game at Provo, Utah.

MIDWEST

Garrett Wolfe’s 226 yards and four touchdowns in 37 carries helped lead Northern Illinois (5-2, 5-0) to a 42-10 victory over Central Michigan (2-4, 1-2) in a Mid-American Conference game at DeKalb, Ill.... Bruce Gradkowski ran for a touchdown and passed for another to lead Toledo (5-2, 4-0) to a 31-13 win over Ohio (3-4, 1-3) in a MAC game at Toledo, Ohio.... Zac Bruney passed for six touchdowns as Mount Union, a Division III power, beat Marietta, 57-0, at Alliance, Ohio, for its 100th consecutive regular-season victory.

SOUTH

DeAngelo Williams rushed for 132 yards and two touchdowns as Memphis (5-1, 2-1) rolled to a 49-24 victory over Tulane (1-4, 0-3) in a Conference USA game at Memphis, Tenn.... Carlton Jones ran for 225 yards and five touchdowns, and Army (2-4, 2-3) rallied for a 42-35 win over South Florida (2-3, 1-2) in a Conference USA game at Tampa, Fla.

SOUTHLAND

Jon Miller had 164 yards receiving and two touchdowns to lead Azusa Pacific (6-1) to a 30-14 victory over Trinity, Texas (5-1) at San Antonio, and end the Division III team’s 43-game home winning streak dating to 1995.... Kellan Mayberry caught an 18-yard touchdown pass with 25 seconds left to give host Cal Lutheran (2-3, 1-2) a 41-34 victory over La Verne (2-4, 2-2) in a SCIAC game.... Quarterback Justin Fenchel ran for a touchdown and threw for another to lead host Pomona-Pitzer (2-4, 2-2) to a 24-10 victory over Claremont-Mudd (1-4, 0-2) in a SCIAC game....
