Packers’ Green Arrested After Domestic Incident

Green Bay running back Ahman Green was arrested after a domestic violence incident, the Brown County, Wis., sheriff’s department said Tuesday.

Deputies went to Green’s home after a 911 call ended with a hang-up Monday night. The four-time Pro Bowler was arrested about 10:10 p.m., taken to the county jail, posted a $150 bond and was released about 11:50 p.m.

A court hearing was scheduled for May 11 on a disorderly conduct citation.

Green is married with two daughters and a stepson, according to the Packers.

ESPN’s telecast of the NFL draft Saturday got a 4.3 rating, the highest ever achieved for the draft. The previous record was 4.2 in 1993.

New England signed free-agent cornerback Chad Scott Tuesday after he was released by Pittsburgh.... Houston released veteran cornerback Aaron Glenn, a three-time Pro Bowl selection.... Backup quarterback Charlie Batch signed a one-year contract to return to Pittsburgh worth $565,000.

Wimbledon prize money will approach $20 million this summer, with the men’s champion earning $50,000 more than the women’s winner.

Players are benefiting from the rising value of the British pound against the American dollar.

The total figure for the June 20-July 3 tournament is going up 3.9% to $19.16 million at current exchange rates, the highest prize money for a tennis tournament, the All England Club said.

There is no timetable for Bertuzzi’s possible reinstatement, but Tim Danson, an attorney for Moore, whose career remains in doubt, says the penalty against Bertuzzi should not be lifted.

Sophomore Kyle Wright has been named the starting quarterback at Miami.

Arizona State passed UCLA for the lead after the third round of the Pacific 10 Conference men’s tournament at Walla Walla, Wash. The Sun Devils have a three-shot lead over the Bruins entering today’s final round. Arizona State’s Pat Moore extended his individual lead to four strokes.

UC Riverside won the Big West Conference men’s title by eight strokes over Cal Poly San Luis Obispo at Tijeras Creek Golf Course in Rancho Santa Margarita.

Jose Canseco and twin brother Ozzie were ordered by a jury to pay nearly $300,000 in punitive damages to two men who were beaten by the former major leaguers at a Miami Beach nightclub four years ago. The same jury awarded the victims more than $700,000 in compensatory damages Monday.

Former world champion Mario Cipollini, one of the best Italian sprinters of all time, is retiring from cycling.

Johnny Sample, a defensive back who had an interception for the New York Jets in their 16-7 upset of Baltimore in Super Bowl III in 1969, died at age 67.
