Streaking Suns Set Some Highs, 130-85

James Jones scored 22 points, Raja Bell had 21 and the Suns extended their winning streak to an NBA-best seven straight with a 130-85 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers on Tuesday night at Phoenix.

The Suns, who set a season high for points and margin of victory, have held their last nine opponents under 100 points. The 45-point margin was the Suns’ second-largest at America West Arena, behind a 46-point win over the Clippers in 2000.

The Suns shot 55.6% (50 of 90) and also finished with a season-high 16 three-point baskets in 32 attempts, including six makes by Jones, who matched a career high. Phoenix also had a season-best 15 blocked shots.

Zach Randolph’s 15 points led the Trail Blazers, who lost their fifth in a row.

Memphis 89, New Orleans 73 -- Pau Gasol had 29 points and 15 rebounds at Memphis, Tenn., to lead the Grizzlies, who led by as many as 21 points, to their sixth consecutive victory.

Desmond Mason and David West had 15 points each for New Orleans.

Dallas 84, Indiana 75 -- Dirk Nowitzki had 31 points and 11 rebounds, and the Mavericks closed with a 9-4 run at Indianapolis to beat the Pacers in their first game back from a five-game trip.

The Pacers had cut a 14-point lead to 75-71 before Dallas’ final surge ended its three-game losing streak at Conseco Fieldhouse.

Jermaine O’Neal led Indiana with 25 points and 13 rebounds.

Cleveland 102, Sacramento 97 -- LeBron James scored 11 of his 30 points in the fourth quarter to help the Cavaliers end a nine-game losing streak against the Kings with their first victory at Arco Arena since March 1998.

Shareef Abdur-Rahim scored 25 points for the Kings, who lost three consecutive home games for the first time since April 2000.

Denver 125, Atlanta 116 -- Andre Miller had 21 points and 14 assists, and Marcus Camby blocked two key shots in the final 90 seconds to help the Nuggets hold off the Hawks at Denver.

Camby blocked a potential score-tying shot by Josh Childress with 1:30 left and swatted a Al Harrington attempt shortly afterward with the Hawks trailing by five. Harrington had a season-high 35 points for Atlanta.

Washington 119, Toronto 111 -- Jarvis Hayes broke out of a shooting slump with a season-high 21 points, including six in overtime, and Gilbert Arenas scored 16 of his 37 in the final 12 1/2 minutes to lead the Wizards at Washington.

Hayes didn’t score in Friday’s loss to Milwaukee and had gone seven for 24 from the field in his last five games. Chris Bosh scored 27 for the Raptors.

Houston 91, Boston 73 -- Tracy McGrady tied his season high with 35 points at Houston to lead the Rockets to only their second win in their last 10 games. Paul Pierce had 20 points for Boston.

New York 104, Seattle 101 -- Back in his hometown, Jamal Crawford scored all of his season-high 31 points in the second half of the Knicks’ victory at Seattle. Ray Allen had 23 points for Seattle but made only nine of 28 shots.

Celtic guard Tony Allen pleaded not guilty in Chicago to three counts of aggravated battery stemming from a Aug. 29 fight that escalated into a shooting outside a diner. Allen is not suspected in the shooting.... Atlanta Hawk forward Josh Smith was suspended for two games without pay for elbowing Phoenix Sun guard Raja Bell in the head on Sunday.... Denver Nugget forward Carmelo Anthony was fined $5,000 by the NBA for throwing the ball into the stands after being called for charging Saturday against the Miami Heat. The ball hit a preteen girl, who was not injured.
