Animal Control Officials Seize Scores of Cats
Nearly 100 cats, most in poor health, were seized from a Riverside woman’s home Tuesday night and Wednesday after a neighbor complained of the animals’ condition, authorities said.
The elderly woman, who lives in the 100 block of Kayjay Street, was first contacted by animal control two years ago when the county collected about 20 cats from her home, authorities said.
This week, cat feces covered the floor and most surfaces in the house, and filled a bathtub to the brim, said Betsey Webster, staff analyst for the Riverside County community health agency. Animal-control officials will determine whether to press criminal charges.
