Violent Man Dies After Deputies Arrest Him
A man who was damaging a house early Sunday died after being taken into custody, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
Shortly after 1 a.m., several callers to 911 complained of a man screaming and breaking windows on Bergenia, said sheriff’s spokesman Jim Amormino.
Deputies found a man acting “bizarrely” who would not comply with their orders. He was arrested and then stopped breathing. Paramedics took him to Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo, where he was pronounced dead. His identity was not released.
The district attorney’s office will investigate, as is usual when a suspect dies in custody, Amormino said.
