Re “Extreme makeover, Irvine edition,” column, April 28
I could laugh at Karin Klein’s satiric take on Irvine’s recreation department offerings if it weren’t for the fact that I’ve seen the powerful benefits of teaching babies to sign. Four of my grandchildren have learned to sign from their parents, giving them an early means of communicating before they could speak. My own babies were limited to crying or laughing before speech.
