Why the Venomous Obituary?

Share

Dan Neil’s abrasive castration of Cargo, the ill-fated periodical, wreaks of obvious disdain and an unenlightened viewpoint regarding the magazine, which was an attempt to pull together the voluminous inventory of products that make many people feel better in the growing and aging process (“Fashion Victim,” 800 Words, April 23). Yes, the magazine didn’t cut it, but why the venomous treatment? Glossing through magazines like Cargo doesn’t make someone vain. A little vanity makes most of us feel better and healthier.

While his autopsy might have been rib-spreading, it was also horrifically jaded. There is so much more to question in this world than why this unfortunate magazine did not make it with enough consumers. Neil could emulate a little more tolerance and less vitriolic babble. Cargo was not monstrous.
