From the Associated Press

* Memphis 123, at Orlando 119: Dwight Howard had 31 points and 20 rebounds -- his league-leading 21st double-double of the season -- but it wasn’t enough to prevent the Magic from losing its third in a row at home. Howard had his double-double by halftime when he had 12 points and 12 rebounds.

* at Atlanta 93, Charlotte 84: The Hawks, playing without two top backups, still had enough scoring punch to hand the Bobcats their eighth road loss in nine games. Joe Johnson led the way with 31 points. Sixth man Josh Childress (groin) and rookie point guard Acie Law (sore knee) were not in uniform.

* at Washington 92, Sacramento 79: Already without starting point guard Gilbert Arenas, recovering from left knee surgery last month, the Wizards announced that backup Antonio Daniels would be out for the next two to four weeks because of a sprained knee ligament. Rookie Nick Young from USC made his first NBA start, but he was pulled after five minutes in favor of Roger Mason, who scored 13 points -- 10 in the first half -- to help the Wizards win their fourth in a row.

* Indiana 106, at Miami 103: The Pacers have won 18 of the last 22 regular-season meetings with the Heat. Dwyane Wade’s three-point shot bounced off the rim as time expired. Miami fell to 2-8 at home and 6-17 overall.

* at New York 94, New Jersey 86: It was a rare victory for the Knicks in what has been a one-sided series between cross-river rivals. The Nets had won six in a row at Madison Square Garden. The Knicks’ last home victory against the Nets had come on March 19, 2004.

* Philadelphia 92, at Cleveland 86: After Damon Jones’ three-pointer gave the Cavaliers a 75-74 lead with 7:57 to play, four points by Andre Iguodala and baskets by Andre Miller and Samuel Dalembert provided an 8-0 run that gave the 76ers the lead for good.

* Dallas 96, at Houston 83: The Mavericks, who took control with a 26-9 run bridging the third and fourth quarters, continue to dominate their in-state division rival. They’ve won six consecutive meetings with the Rockets and 10 of the last 11.

* at San Antonio 102, Denver 91: Tim Duncan, who sat out four games because of a sprained right ankle, returned and had eight points in 20 minutes to help the Spurs remain perfect at home (13-0). The Nuggets played without starter Kenyon Martin, who was suspended for a game after he was assessed a flagrant foul during Wednesday night’s win over New Orleans.

* at Milwaukee 95, Minnesota 92: The Timberwolves (3-19) are off to the worst 22-game start in franchise history. They had tied the 1991-92 team for the worst 21-game start. That team defeated the Lakers, 93-85, in its next game and finished the season at 15-67.

* at Utah 96, Seattle 75: The Jazz put the game away by holding the SuperSonics to one point during the first three minutes of the fourth quarter. Andrei Kirilenko scored on an alley-oop layup assisted by Deron Williams to give Utah an 85-69 lead with 6:20 remaining.

* at New Orleans 101, Phoenix 98: With the score 99-98, Shawn Marion missed badly on a runner in the lane in the final seconds that could have won the game.
