Morgan Museum hires Griswold
William Griswold, who was acting director of the J. Paul Getty Museum for nearly a year as controversy engulfed its parent Getty Trust, will be the next director of the Morgan Library & Museum in New York City.
Griswold left the Getty in October 2005 to become director of the Minneapolis Institute of Arts; he will stay on there until year’s end, then take over at the Morgan for Charles Pierce Jr., who is retiring.
The Morgan reopened 13 months ago after a three-year, $106-million renovation by architect Renzo Piano. It collects a wide range of art, manuscripts and rare books.
