* at Houston 5, Milwaukee 4 (10 innings): The Brewers fell out of a first-place tie in the NL Central when the Astros’ Hunter Pence singled home the winning run off Matt Wise in the 10th.
* at Chicago 3, Cincinnati 2: Alfonso Soriano homered and threw out Norris Hopper at the plate in the eighth to help the Cubs take a one-game lead atop the NL Central.
* at St. Louis 2, Philadelphia 1 (10 innings): The Phillies’ six-game winning streak ended and they fell 2 1/2 games behind in the NL East after Yadier Molina’s RBI single in the 10th.
* at San Diego 5, Pittsburgh 3: Scott Hairston hit a three-run homer with two out in the ninth inning to help the Padres increase their wild-card lead to 2 1/2 games.
* Arizona 6, at San Francisco 4: Conor Jackson homered and Chris Snyder had three hits and three RBIs to keep the Diamondbacks one game ahead of San Diego atop the NL West.
* at Atlanta 5, Florida 1: Edgar Renteria had three hits, including a home run, and Chipper Jones had two hits and drove in a run to help complete a three-game sweep.
* New York 8, at Washington 4: The Mets prevailed this time despite three errors that gave the team 14 in its last four games.
* at Colorado 6, Dodgers 5: Rockies closer Manny Corpas completed the victory to save his 16th consecutive game dating to July 7.
