Indians rally to beat Rays

at Cleveland 11, Tampa Bay 10: Victor Martinez lined a two-run single with two out to cap a seven-run ninth inning as the Indians overcame a 10-run deficit to beat the Rays. The hit ruined the much-awaited season debut for Tampa Bay starter David Price, who was staked to the early lead but ran his pitch count up and lasted only 3 1/3 innings.

at Oakland 6, Seattle 1: Travis Buck homered and scored three runs for the A’s. Mariners catcher Kenji Johjima broke his left big toe during the game and will be out at least two weeks.

Boston 6, at Minnesota 5: Jason Bay and Kevin Youkilis hit two-run doubles, and the Red Sox started a 10-game trip with a victory. Jonathan Papelbon survived a two-out, two-run homer in the ninth by pinch-hitter Joe Mauer to get his 12th save.

Detroit 13, at Kansas City 1: Justin Verlander held slumping Kansas City to five hits in seven scoreless innings and Miguel Cabrera had three RBIs.

at Baltimore 4, Toronto 1: Jeremy Guthrie gave up one run in seven innings, Aubrey Huff had two RBIs and the Blue Jays lost their seventh game in a row.

Chicago 17, at Angels 3: White Sox had 24 hits in the victory.
