Mr. Popper is a man who is always reading about the Arctic. He loves reading about penguins and sometimes reads about scientists, including Admiral Drake. One day, Admiral Drake sends him a letter saying that Mr. Popper will get a surprise. Imagine his delight when he is sent a penguin! He quickly decides to call him Captain Cook. But Captain Cook becomes sick so Admiral Drake sends him a girl penguin named Great to keep him company. Pretty soon there are 12 penguins! Then Mr. Popper get a good idea -- he puts the Popper Performing Penguins to perform in theaters. But then there is a terrible mix-up -- to find out more, read the book!
