Life: The Discovery Channel airs two new installments of its stunning documentary miniseries, with “Mammals” at 8 p.m. followed by “Fish” at 9.

Family Guy: Chris and Meg injure Stewie and try to cover it up on a new episode of the raunchy animated series (9 p.m. Fox).

Masterpiece Classic: Sean Bean returns as the famous British soldier-hero Richard Sharpe in “Sharpe’s Challenge,” the first of two new adventures set during the Napoleonic Wars and based on the Bernard Cornwell novels (9 p.m. KCET).

The Pacific: Leckie and Basilone (James Badge Dale, Jon Seda) and thousands of marines are physically and mentally debilitated after their four-month ordeal on Guadalcanal, when they ship out to Melbourne, where they are hailed as the saviors of Australia in this new episode (9 p.m. HBO).

The Egg and I: Adapted from the bestselling memoir by Betty MacDonald, this 1947 comedy stars Claudette Colbert and Fred MacMurray as a young married couple who move to the sticks to pursue the husband’s ill-advised dream of becoming a successful chicken farmer (5 p.m. TCM).
