Man brandishes knife outside Starbucks in Glendale
A 63-year-old man was arrested after he allegedly brandished a knife at a woman in a Starbucks parking lot in Glendale after she confronted him about an unpaid loan, police said.
Vahik Avaness of Glendale was taken into custody Monday on suspicion of brandishing a knife and making threats, according to Glendale police reports. He was released later that day.
The woman allegedly saw Avaness sitting in his Toyota Camry about 1 p.m. and decided to block him in with her Nissan Altima in the Starbucks parking lot in the 1700 block of West Glenoaks Boulevard.
She demanded his address and asked for repayment, but he allegedly refused to tell her, police said.
Instead, Avaness allegedly got of the car, stood in front of her and lifted his shirt to expose a metal knife in his waistband, police told the Glendale News-Press.
