Specs for new Chromebook found on HP’s website

A PDF file on Hewlett-Packard’s website shows specification information for a laptop running Google’s operating system Chrome OS, suggesting that an HP Chromebook may be on its way.

According to the spec sheet, which can be found on HP’s online store, the laptop is called the Pavilion Chromebook and features a 14-inch screen with 1,366 by 768-pixel resolution. That would make it the largest display of any Chromebook released so far.

“Since it’s the first Chromebook with a 14-inch diagonal design, you get full-size comfort without giving up full-on mobility,” the file says.

It was unclear if HP, which declined to comment, posted the spec sheets by accident or if it purposely put it on the website to promote the new laptop. The file does have an “ad embargo” date of Feb. 17.

Besides the large display, the spec sheet says the Pavilion Chromebook will run on a 1.1 GHz Intel Celeron Processor 847 with 16 gigabytes of on-board storage and 2 GB of memory.

Additionally, the laptop will feature a multi-format digital card reader, three USB 2.0 ports and an HDMI port. The Pavilion Chromebook also will have an HD webcam.

The HP machine, however, will only have four hours and 15 minutes of battery life, according to the spec sheet, which doesn’t say when it’d be available or how much it would cost.

If HP does roll out the laptop, it’ll be the fourth company after Acer, Samsung and Lenovo to come out with a Chromebook computer.
