Lindsay Lohan harassed her way into ‘Liz & Dick,’ she says

Share

Lindsay Lohan was going to play Elizabeth Taylor no matter what.

She said as much Friday on “Good Morning America,” where she was promoting “Liz & Dick,” her new TV movie that’ll air Nov. 25 on Lifetime.

“I had seen that they were going to be making a movie and I got the producer’s number and started harassing [him]. I didn’t even care if my agents were going to do it or not, I just did it myself too. Because, I was like, ‘No one else is going to play this role, I have to do this.’”

There are parallels between Lohan and Taylor, who also was a child star and the focus of relentless media attention. But that reduced the pressure on Lilo only a touch.

“It’s really nerve-wracking to play someone that’s such an incredible force, and a wonderful woman, so I was kind of nervous to see what people would think of it,” Lohan said.

“You can never actually be a clone of the person, so you have to bring some of yourself into it. I was lucky enough, because I do relate to Elizabeth Taylor in a lot of ways.”

Like la Liz before her, Lindsay said she relies on her mother for support. And no, as a matter of fact, she’d actually missed Thursday’s news that DNA had confirmed she had a new half-sister.

“I want to stay with the positive side of things,” she said, nudging the conversation away from her family dramas and back to the film at hand.

With “Liz & Dick” in the can, along with “The Canyons,” it sounds as if she’s pushing her team to keep the jobs coming in.

“I’m reading scripts every day,” she said. “I just want to keep calling my agents. I’m like, ‘Just keep me on set. It’s safer that way.’”
