When it comes to men, Zoe Saldana, of “Star Trek” and “Avatar” fame, isn’t needy.

Now, “want-y” is a whole ‘nother thing, she tells Latina magazine.

“I don’t want to need things,” the May cover girl told the mag. “I need water, you know what I’m saying? I need to exercise, I need to eat. To be with a man should be a want. I don’t need anybody. And the people that I do need are just family, tu entiendes?

“But a man is something that I want, I want to be with a partner, because this partner is going to add or I’m going to add to this partner.”

Well that sounds emotionally healthy. Especially with the exercise thrown in there.

Saldana does seem to be right with her emotions as well, likening an alleged “breakdown” after “Avatar” to the state a kid gets in after her birthday party: just a little overstimulated and needing a rest. “That was completely blown out of proportion. That was so exaggerated and so ridiculous.”

And she knows how to roll with the punches after a breakup. Of course, her split with hunky Bradley Cooper comes to mind, though she didn’t reference him specifically. Could it be that she hasn’t had that far to fall, however?

“I tend to recover very easily,” Saldana said. “When I lose, when my heart is broken, when I lose a competition, when I don’t get something, when something doesn’t go my way or I have a heartbreak or whatever, maybe it’s just the kind of person that I am, or maybe I haven’t really fallen in love yet, had that crash boom bam in my life yet, but I tend to recover, you know, healthy and smoothly.

“And I’ve been that way up until now. And if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”

Saldana can be seen again as Nyota Uhura in “Star Trek Into Darkness” starting May 17.
