R. Kelly teases ‘Trapped in the Closet’ return

Fans of R. Kelly’s cult classic, “Trapped in the Closet,” have held onto unanswered questions since the hip-hopera ended in a cliffhanger in 2007.

At last, Kelly is ready to deliver answers and offer up more tawdry drama, singsong monologues and uproarious antics from Sylvester, Twan and Pimp Lucius when the next installment of the series premieres Nov. 23 on IFC.

Judging from the nearly three-minute teaser-trailer Kelly released Wednesday, there will be no shortage of ridiculous fun.

In the clip, which serves as Chapter 23, Kelly channels classic “Masterpiece Theatre” (albeit far more profane) to catch up where his cast of characters have been since viewers last saw them.

Kelly vowed that “these next chapters of ‘Trapped in the Closet’ is gonna be so crazy” -- OK, so it definitely isn’t Shakespeare. But considering the first 22 chapters featured an extremely complex storyline that included sexual exploits, little people and a mysterious package, it’s impossible to doubt Kelly’s claim.

The singer’s campy hip-hopera originally began as a five-video series to accompany the melodramatic segment of songs on his 2005 disc, “TP.3 Reloaded.” Fan demand made the singer add more and more chapters and roll out the accompanying videos on DVD.

Kelly will roll out the next 20 chapters of the saga, which he executive produced, wrote and co-directed.

Check out the trailer here. As juicy as it is, there is language not suitable for the workplace.
