Y-3 popping up on the Sunset Strip
The Sunset Strip gets a touch of the avant-garde by way of Adidas, as the German sportswear giant opens a pop-up shop that will stock its Y-3 collaboration with Japanese designer Yohji Yamamoto, as well as debuting select pieces from its affordable, eco-friendly SLVR collection.
The spring and summer collection of Y-3, now in its sixth year, will be carried in the pop-up, which opened last week for a six-month run, and at a permanent Y-3 store opening April 1 at Newport Beach’s Fashion Island. The line features women’s cropped pants ($235), pocket shorts ($200), fluid skirts ($520) and apres-beach dresses ($215). Men can choose from lightweight overcoats ($690) and weekend-ready track shorts ($170) and tops ($210).
SLVR, launched this year, consists of basics ranging from $45 tops to $190 jackets, made from sustainable organic cotton, soybean fabric, nylon and natural canvas in a palette of black, white and gun-metal gray (hence the name), with accents of maroon, orange and blue. Of interest: the $85 zero-waste women’s tee made from one piece of fabric, and the seven-piece shoe ($195) made from, you guessed it, six pieces stitched to a sole (a typical sneaker has around 25 pieces).
