Third Place

Newport Harbor 9, Corona del Mar 4
Anne Belden had four goals, three steals and one assist and Carolyn Conway added two goals, two steals and one assist to lead second-seeded Newport Harbor, which led, 4-1, at halftime and, 6-2, after three quarters. Katya Eadington had three goals and two steals for No. 5 Corona del Mar (15-9). The Sailors are No. 2 in The Times’ rankings.

Fifth Place

Long Beach Wilson 7, Los Alamitos 4
Allie Lamb, Lauren Silver and Amy Lamb had two goals apiece to lift Long Beach Wilson, which trailed, 3-1, at halftime. The Bruins, No. 4 in the Times’ rankings, came back, scoring twice in the third quarter, and then added four more goals in the final period. Wilson goalie Niki Lolis made eight saves while Griffins keeper Lauren Burke deflected six shots.

Seventh Place

Santa Margarita 7, Coronado 6 (OT)
Darby Anderson scored from two meters with 1 minute 17 seconds left in overtime to lift Santa Margarita to a victory in the seventh-place game of the Irvine Southern California Championships at Corona del Mar High. Anderson finished with three goals, including one in each of the first two quarters. Anne Markel, Kristin Palase and Amy Isaac also scored for the Eagles (16-10), who built a 5-1 halftime lead lost it. Coronado rallied in the second half and tied the game at 6-6 on a goal by Sydney Van Orden in the final seconds of regulation play

Ninth Place

Arlington 7, Woodbridge 6
Nikki Frish scored three goals to lift Arlington (21-5) past No. 10 Woodbridge. Jacquelyn Gauthier scored all four of Woodbridge’s first-half goals to give the Warriors a 4-1 advantage at halftime. Arlington answered with a four-goal run in the third, highlighted by two goals from Layla Behzadian. Later, in the fourth quarter, the Lions broke a 5-5 tie with two straight goals. Woodbridge scored their final goal with 2:42 left.

Championship Semifinals

Foothill 7, Newport Harbor 6
Jillian Kraus scored three goals, including her last one with 5 minutes 50 seconds to play, to give Foothill (23-3) its first victory in three meetings this season in a championship semifinal game of the Irvine/Southern California Championships at Corona del Mar.

The Knights had previously lost to the Sailors, 10-9, in overtime, in a Sea View League game on Jan. 14, and were beaten, 9-5, in the Santa Barbara tournament semifinals on Jan. 17.

This time, though, they held a 3-0 lead advantage early in the first quarter, and were up, 4-3, at halftime.Carolyn Conway, who had four goals to lead Newport Harbor (20-3), converted a shot from two meters to tie the game at 4-4 with 3:32 to go in the third quarter.

Conway also gave the Sailors their only lead of the game with a goal at the 2:10.49 mark of the third, but Foothill’s Grace Reynolds scored the last of her three goals to tie the score again at 5-5 with 1:47.71 to play in the period.

Lauren Miller gave Foothill the lead back at the end of the quarter.

Conway, who was excluded from the game with her third ejection foul with 2:35 to play, tied the score for the last time at 6-6 on a lob shot with 6:06 left.

Kraus scored two of her three goals in the second quarter, while Reynolds had one in each of the first three periods. Goalie Katy Krumpholz (eight saves) stopped two shots by Newport Harbor’s Jessica Ball in the last 33 seconds to help Foothill avert overtime.

Outside of Conway, Sarah Mutt and Ashling Taylor were the only players who scored for Newport Harbor, which had an eight-game winning streak snapped.

Santa Barbara 7, Corona del Mar 4
Senior Sarah Frost had two goals and an assist and five other players scored for Santa Barbara (22-2) in a championship semifinal game of the Irvine/Southern California Championships at Corona del Mar High.Corona del Mar trailed 3-2 at halftime and 4-3 in the third quarter, but the Sea Kings tied the game at 4-4 on a four-meter penalty shot with 1:58 to go in the period, but Brittany Baer, Frost and Kami Craig each scored in the fourth quarter for Santa Barbara. The Dons’ victory was their second this season over Corona del Mar (15-7).

Fifth-place Semfinals

Long Beach Wilson 6, Santa Margarita 2
Lauren Silver and Megan Nesland had two goals apiece and keeper Niki Lolis made seven saves to pace No. 4 Long Beach Wilson. Darby Anderson and Brooke Figge each scored a goal and Caitlin O’Connor stopped seven shots in goal for Santa Margarita, No. 9 in the Times’ rankings.

Los Alamitos 9, Coronado 6
Jessica Lewis and Dayna Wawrzynski each scored three goals as Los Alamitos (18-7) won the fifth-place semifinal game of the Irvine/Southern California Championships. Los Alamitos, which turned a 3-2 halftime edge into an 8-2 advantage with six goals in the third quarter, also got two goals from Erin Scully.

Arlington 7, El Toro 6
Melissa de Jonckheere scored three goals for Arlington, which led, 6-3, in the third quarter. Molly Pierson scored four goals for El Toro.

Championship

Montebello 8, Upland 6
Freshman Priscilla Orozco, an all-tournament selection, scored three goals and freshman Mary Ann Campos scored two goals to clinch the championship for No. 8 Montebello (20-4). The Oilers fell behind, 5-2, in the second quarter to No. 7 Upland, but responded with five unanswered goals in the third quarter to take a 7-5 lead. Sophomore Daisy Carrillo, also an tournament selection, added one goal for Montebello and the keeper Andrea Lugo was named tournament MVP. Vanessa Lindsey scored three goals and Ashley Rothweiler added three assists for Upland (23-3), the tournament’s defending champion.

Fifth Place

El Rancho 13, Royal 2
Brandy Bray scored four goals and Miriam Quintanilla made 12 blocks for El Rancho (22-3), which led, 8-1, at halftime.

Ninth Place

Rosary 7, Sherman Oaks Notre Dame 4
Sophomore Rebecca McCall had four goals, three steals and two assists to lead Rosary (13-14) over Sherman Oaks Notre Dame. McCall has 74 goals on the season.

Catalina Casas scored three goals, including the game-winner with 1:59 left, and goalie Jenny Austin made 16 saves, including one with 31 seconds left, to lead Burbank (16-8), which was tied with Garden Grove, 7-7, at the beginning of the fourth quarter.

13th Place

Charter Oak 6, Crescenta Valley 4
Goalkeeper Heather Curtis made 11 blocks, including the deflection of a four-meter penalty shot in the fourth quarter, to preserve the victory for Charter Oak (14-13). Stephanie Heinrich scored four goals and led a come-from-behind rally in the fourth quarter for Charter Oak, which trailed, 3-4, with 6:25 remaining.

La Serna 8, Claremont 7
Elizabeth Lacy had four goals and Linda Livesy scored three goals for Claremont (12-12). La Serna got the last of four four-meter shots to win the game with 30 seconds left.

Katie Harding had three goals and keeper Brandy Creek made 16 saves to lead Royal (15-4, 10-0), which clinched its first Marmonte League championship with its third victory this season over Agoura in a Marmonte League game at Rancho Simi Community Park. The Chargers (14-6, 7-2) had won the past five Marmonte League titles, but the Highlanders snapped a 43-match league winning streak by Agoura with a 9-7 victory on Jan. 6. Royal also defeated in the Chargers in a TYR/El Dorado tournament game 11 days ago. Royal got nine of its 10 goals from four seniors, including two by Christine Cruz. Cruz, the team’s leading scorer, came off the bench rather than starting and sat out about half the game as a precaution after suffering a concussion last week. Senior Megan O’Linn and Sophomore Meghan Corso each scored two goals for Agoura.
