Sikh studies: A Nov. 19 LATExtra article on Sikh studies at UC Santa Cruz misspelled student Navdeep Kaur’s first name as Nardeep. The story also said that a gift to UC Santa Cruz for instruction in the Punjabi language came with help from Narinder Singh Kapany, founder of the Palo Alto-based Sikh Foundation. Kapany facilitated the university’s endowed chair in Sikh and Punjabi Studies, but the gift for the Punjabi language program came from a separate coalition of community donors. Kapany was not involved.
