Anaheim toddler dies after mother accidentally hits him with truck
A toddler was killed early Thursday in Anaheim when the child’s mother accidentally struck him as she was moving her pickup truck into their home’s driveway, authorities said.
The mother left the house to move the vehicle from the street to the driveway and did not realize that her 21-month-old son, Octavio Martinez, had followed her outside, authorities said.
Anaheim police said the mother did not see the child and accidentally struck him.
The boy suffered critical injuries and was rushed to UCI Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Police are investigating the incident as a traffic collision. No arrests have been made and no charges are being sought.
