Earthquake: 3.9 quake strikes near Lone Pine, Calif.

A shallow magnitude 3.9 earthquake was reported Saturday evening 31 miles from Lone Pine, California, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 10:30 p.m. Pacific time.

According to the USGS, the epicenter was 42 miles from Ridgecrest, Calif., 52 miles from Porterville, Calif., and 226 miles from Carson City, Nevada.

In the past 10 days, there has been one earthquake of magnitude 3.0 or greater centered nearby.
