Mother pleads no contest to attacking 2 teachers at school
A mother who got into a fight with two special education teachers at a Los Angeles middle school was sentenced Friday to 180 days in jail, authorities said.
Kiki Lolita Fowler, 34, pleaded no contest to one count of battery on a school employee in the March incident at John Muir Middle School. She will serve 180 days in jail, serve three years of formal probation and one year of anger management sessions.
As part of her probation, the court ordered Fowler to stay away from both teachers and the South L.A. school grounds.
The court dropped one count of battery on a school employee as part of Fowler’s plea deal, according to Bobby Zoumberakis, a deputy L.A. County district attorney.
The attack occurred March 6 about 9 a.m. when Fowler visited the school to make an appointment about her 13-year-old daughter’s treatment in class. Fowler’s 15-year-old daughter also accompanied her that day.
At one point, Fowler struck both teachers. Students were in the classroom at the time of the incident, Zoumberakis said.
