The Los Angeles County coroner’s office Tuesday identified a driver killed in an Atwater Village car crash as Alejandro Rong, 22, of Los Angeles.

Rong died early Sunday after allegedly running a red light and crashing into a pickup truck, said Lt. Larry Dietz of the coroner’s office.

He was driving a 1991 Acura Integra on Glendale Boulevard at Revere Street at 6:49 a.m. when his car collided with a Dodge Ram pickup truck, said Sgt. Kevin Custard of the Los Angeles Police Department.

“Witnesses stopped at the red light said he went right past them,” Custard said.

Rong was pronounced dead at the scene. A female passenger was taken to a hospital.
