Man allegedly stabbed woman who fell from car, is charged with murder
Prosecutors charged a 26-year-old North Hollywood man Tuesday with killing a woman who died after falling from a moving car on the 210 Freeway.
Ricardo “Rick” Jimenez, 26, used a knife on the woman moments before her death, authorities believe. He turned himself in to authorities over the weekend after Los Angeles Police Department detectives released his photo.
He had been wanted in the death of girlfriend Maria Josefina “Josie” Jimenez, 22, (no relation), of Westlake, who died Thursday when she fell or jumped from the moving car and was struck by multiple vehicles on the freeway in Sylmar.
Detectives believe Rick Jimenez stabbed his girlfriend before she fell from the Toyota. Investigators said they found blood on the passenger side of the vehicle.
The attack allegedly occurred after the two had argued at a tattoo parlor sometime before midnight and he verbally abused her in front of witnesses, Lt. Paul Vernon of the Los Angeles Police Department said.
Detectives were able to piece together events after a resident near the tattoo parlor reported that a woman had come to her front door about midnight asking for a ride downtown.
Los Angeles police said they believe the woman may have been physically abused the night before her death.
