A man in Vista was arrested Thursday night after leaving his truck on the railroad tracks, where it was hit by a train and sustained “major damage,” the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department said.

The man, whose name was not released, was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving and driving on a suspended license.

None of the 37 passengers on the train was hurt, the Sheriff’s Department said.

The incident began when the man’s truck became stuck on the tracks. The man allegedly left the truck and tried to flag down the train to stop but was unsuccessful, authorities said.
