Fountain Valley police last week chased down a suspected thief who tried to ride a bicycle away from the scene, according to authorities.

Police said they got a call about a theft in progress at Fry’s Electronics store in the 10800 block of Kalama River Avenue about 9:20 a.m. March 20.

On their way to the store, officers were told the suspect had fled on a bicycle. An officer, still in his car, found a man on a bike matching the suspect’s description and tried to pull him over, authorities said.

“When the suspect failed to stop, the officer used the front bumper of his vehicle to push the rear tire of the suspect’s bicycle, which caused the suspect to fall,” police said in a news release.

Officers arrested the man, who suffered minor injuries in the fall, police said.

Roberto Garcia, 25, of Santa Ana was booked into Orange County Jail on suspicion of shoplifting, receiving stolen property, resisting arrest, false personation, and two warrants related to drugs, according to authorities.
