Football: Cameron Page is Notre Dame’s ‘Mighty Mouse’

Share

When opposing teams learn that the tight end for Sherman Oaks Notre Dame is 5-foot-9, 180-pound Cameron Page, they must snicker a little bit. How can someone that small be counted out to block a 6-3 defensive ends?

But once the game begins, it’s Page having the last laugh in taking his target out of the play.

“He’s a pretty amazing guy,” Coach Kevin Rooney said. “He blocks the heck out of people.”

Notre Dame is 5-2 overall and now must be considered the favorite to win the Serra League after its victory over Bishop Amat on Friday.

It’s unsung players like Page that have fueled the Knights’ rise. Notre Dame suffered close defeats to Gardena Serra and West Hills Chaminade, and each time received respect for its toughness.

Page, who also plays defensive end, is an example of what it takes to play high school football well.

“He’s got the heart of a lion,” Rooney said. “He’s just tough and quick and aggressive and fearless.”
