State associations budgeting money for transfer investigations
The Alabama High School Athletic Association is the latest to put away money for investigations of transfers.
According to AL.com, the AHSAA has created an investigative unit with a $100,000 budget to probe illegal recruiting and vetting transfers.
It’s a trend that many state high school associations have learned to deal with.
The California Interscholastic Federation has a $25,000 annual budget to help each of its 10 sections when they need investigative help. There were nearly 16,000 transfers in 2015-16.
In 2013-14, $12,725 was spent out of the fund. In 2014-15, it was $182,110. in 2015-16, it was $13,424.
