Track: Mission League finals set for Thursday at Occidental College
Get ready for lots of fast times when the Mission League track and field finals are held Thursday at 3 p.m. at Occidental College.
T.J. Brock of Chaminade, the defending state champion in the 100 meters, won his prelim on Monday, cruising at 10.61 seconds. But he’ll receive competition from Notre Dame’s Trevor Reid (10.87), Harvard-Westlake’s Alex Barnum (10.89) and Alemany’s Diab Davis (11.01). Brock also ran a 21.19 200 clocking.
Anthony Chaidez of Notre Dame served notice he’s the runner to beat in the 800, running a 1:56.99 prelim time.
One of the best races should be the 300 hurdles matching Notre Dame’s Austin Lietz (38.68) against St. Francis’ Jasher Foster (39.32).
In the girls’ competition, Notre Dame’s Sissy Farmer had the No. 1 100 time in 12.09.
Harvard-Westlake’s Courtney Corrin will be the athlete to watch in the long jump.
