Germany’s Trixi Worrack won the Tour of California women’s title Sunday on bonus time and Canada’s Leah Kirchmann took her second straight stage in the three-leg event.

Worrack finished fourth in the stage. She claimed the overall title by six seconds over Kirchmann after gaining 13 mid-race sprint bonus seconds in intermediate sprints.

“The team did such a good job in the intermediate sprints,” Worrack said. “There was no way someone could pass me.”

Kirchmann, who rode to a single-file solo win in Stage 2 in South Lake Tahoe, moved to the front in the final seconds in the 34-mile criterium and finished in 1 hour 16 minutes 4 seconds.

“I surprised myself with that sprint,” Kirchmann said. “I stayed on the leader’s wheel and passed her right at the line.”

American Lauren Komanski, who began the final stage with a three second lead over Worrack, finished sixth in the stage and placed third overall.

Hannah Barnes of Britain was second in the final stage, and Erica Allar of Tucson, Ariz., finished third — both in the same time as the stage winner.
