Dodgers 5, Angels 0
At the plate: With the exception of using a designated hitter, the Dodgers fielded what they expect to be their everyday lineup. Rod Barajas hit a solo home run, Rafael Furcal had two hits, Casey Blake had a double and Matt Kemp hit a two-run single.
On the mound: John Ely struck out three over two scoreless innings to begin his longshot campaign to make the team. Jon Link also pitched two scoreless innings. Mike MacDougal, Blake Hawksworth, Kenley Jansen, Ramon Troncoso and Juan Rincon all pitched one scoreless inning.
Extra bases: The last time Hawksworth pitched, a line drive struck him in the mouth. But when he took the mound Sunday, he said, “I didn’t think about it.” Hawksworth said that whatever trepidation he had disappeared after throwing live batting practice last week.
Up next: Clayton Kershaw faces the Chicago White Sox and Gavin Floyd at Camelback Ranch at noon PST on Monday.
On the air: TV: Prime Ticket. Radio: 790, 830.
