Watch NBA cheerleader get taken off court after injury

Share

Who says being a cheerleader is easy? Not Jamie Woode of the Orlando Magic.

Woode was performing for the crowd between the first and second quarter of the Magic’s game against the New York Knicks on Tuesday when she fell to the court, breaking a rib and fracturing three vertebrae.

The accident occurred when Woode was being lifted on to a man’s shoulders. Her foot slipped and she fell to the court.

Medical personnel on hand at the game immediately attended to her, immobilized her head and neck and took her off the court by stretcher.

In the video above, you can see players on both teams as well as the fans give her a nice ovation, which gets louder when Woode raises her arms and waves to everyone.

The Orlando Magic said on their website that Woode is expected to make a full recovery, but there is no word on when, or if, she can resume her cheerleading duties.
