For now, at least, Willie Green will be the Clippers’ starting shooting guard in place of the injured J.J. Redick, and Jamal Crawford will come off the bench.

Coach Doc Rivers said Wednesday at the team’s shootaround that he likes to have Crawford provide the Clippers with an offensive burst off the bench.

Redick is expected to be out six to eight weeks with a broken right hand and torn ligaments on his right wrist.

“Willie will play unless something else happens,” Rivers said. “I like Willie there. I don’t want Jamal to be a starter. I like him coming off the bench because he gives us so much pop off the bench. And I think he likes coming off the bench. So, I won’t play with that that much.”

Crawford is third on the team in scoring, averaging 16 points per game.

He’s sixth in minutes played, averaging 26.9 per game, but his minutes have increased since Redick was injured in the first half against the Sacramento Kings on Friday night.

Crawford played 32 minutes, 58 seconds against the Kings and 37:29 against the Indiana Pacers on Sunday afternoon.
