Tiger Woods off to fast start in second round of World Challenge
Tiger Woods birdied three of the first four holes Friday in the chilly second round of his charity tournament in Thousand Oaks.
But despite reaching four-under par for the event, Woods remained three shots behind first-round leader Zach Johnson, who stood at seven under after birdies on the first two holes at the par-72 Sherwood Country Club.
Matt Kuchar also birdied the first two holes to reach six under par and trail Johnson by one stroke in the Northwestern Mutual World Challenge.
Bubba Watson was fourth at three under, and Webb Simpson was next at two under.
The start of play for the tournament’s 18 players was delayed one hour because of frost in the morning, and temperatures weren’t expected to climb above the mid-50s during the day.
The World Challenge has a $3.5-million purse, including $1 million for the winner.
