For National Coaster Day in Vegas, Primm, thrills come with a discount

Thrill seekers can get a bigger rush for fewer bucks as National Roller Coaster Day is celebrated with discounted rates Saturday in southern Nevada.

Coasters in Primm (at the California-Nevada state line) and on the Las Vegas Strip will be offering discounts.

Here’s where and when you can enjoy the discounted rides:

--The Desperado at Buffalo Bill’s in Primm is consistently ranked among the country’s best. This coaster reaches 90 mph as it plunges more than 200 feet. Two can ride for the price of one ($10) from 12:15 p.m. to 9:45 p.m.

--The Big Apple at New York-New York on the Las Vegas Strip is offering a two-for-$14 ticket. You’ll need to get there 10:30 a.m. to noon to take advantage of the special. The first 100 guests will also receive a commemorative T-shirt.

--The Adventuredome theme park at Circus Circus features two coasters: El Loco and Canyon Blaster. Instead of paying $10 a coaster, rides on both will be $10 from 10 a.m. to noon.

Height restrictions apply on all the roller coasters.
