“Reading Rainbow,” reading blue.

LeVar Burton knows how to read to kids. As creator and host of “Reading Rainbow,” the PBS television series turned app turned wildly popular Kickstarter project, he’s been making reading to kids entertaining since 1983.

He turned that skill inside out this weekend by reading “Go the ... to Sleep” aloud for charity. Adam Mansbach’s now-classic 2011 book of frustrated parenting reads like a children’s book yet is peppered with profanity.

Burton appeared on Rooster Teeth’s Extra Life 24-hour livestream fundraiser for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. The fundraiser brought in more than $243,000 in donations.

Grown-ups sat on the floor, kindergarten style, as Burton brought his years of reading experience (and also acting, you know, “Star Trek” and “Roots”) to bear on “Go the ... to Sleep.”

Here’s a link to the video -- complete with the strong language of the original book.
