Just bought iPad 3? Apple Stores may exchange it for iPad 4

Share

The only surprise in Apple’s event Tuesday was its announcement of the fourth generation iPad, which will launch less than eight months after its predecessor.

This is the first time Apple launches two generations of the 9.7-inch iPad in the same year, and understandably, some consumers are mad.

A flash poll of third generation iPad owners conducted by CouponCodes4u.com released Wednesday showed 83% of them felt “cheated” by the announcement.

Fortunately for these owners, though, it appears Apple has some sympathy -- at least for those who bought the iPad 3 in the last month.

CNET is reporting that at least one Apple Store -- on Stockton Street in San Francisco -- will take back third generation iPads bought in the last 30 days that show no serious signs of wear and tear.

Normally, Apple’s return policy gives consumers only four days to return their iPads, so this should help some people.

However, the Stockton Street store’s manager said that policy applies only to her store, according to CNET. Consumers will have to call their local stores to find out if they’ll be able to receive the same accommodation.

We’ve tried to contact Apple to find out if this is a policy all of its stores, but we have not heard back.
