‘True Detective’s’ Vince Vaughn angles for a buyer
Actor Vince Vaughn has listed his La Canada Flintridge house for sale at $5.299 million.
Actor Vince Vaughn, who plays a career criminal in the second season of the HBO series “True Detective,” has put his La Cañada Flintridge property on the market at $5.299 million — not exactly a steal even in the affluent community.
The newer Colonial-style home, built in 2000, sits behind gates on a majestic three-quarters of an acre with mature trees, expanses of lawn, a swimming pool and a sports court.
The home opens to a grand entry and staircase. A living room with a fireplace, a formal dining room, a wood-paneled library, an office, five bedrooms and six bathrooms are within the mostly white-walled 5,563 square feet of living space.
The roomy kitchen features a butler’s pantry, a center island, a breakfast area and two dishwashers. The family room opens to a brick-covered patio. There’s a three-car garage.
Vaughn bought the property two years ago for $3.925 million. He owns other residential properties in Los Angeles, Manhattan Beach and Chicago.
The 45-year-old actor has starred in such movies as “Unfinished Business” (2015), “Wedding Crashers” (2005) and “Swingers” (1996).

Hoping to catch a contract
Funnyman Adam Carolla and his wife, Lynette Paradise, have listed a vintage home in La Cañada Flintridge for sale at $3.495 million.
Since the couple bought the property two years ago for $2.965 million, Carolla has hosted the series “Catch a Contractor,” which helps wronged homeowners.
The Spanish hacienda-style house, built in 1921, sits on a half-acre lot with mature trees. The front veranda looks out on the expansive lawn. The backyard lawn was replaced with artificial turf to conserve water.
A Batchelder-tile fireplace, beamed ceilings, original hardware and wood and terra-cotta tile floors are among period details that attracted the couple to the house.
An open-beam living room, a formal dining room, four bedrooms and four bathrooms are included in 4,000 square feet of living space.
A saltwater pool and spa and a basketball court complete the grounds.
Carolla, 51, started hosting “The Adam Carolla Show,” a daily podcast series, in 2009. An actor, producer and writer, he has worked on “The Man Show” (1999-2004), “Crank Yankers (2002-07) and “Family Guy” (2000-14).
This year he co-wrote and directed the biographical film “Winning: The Racing Life of Paul Newman” and the movie “Road Hard.”

Comic’s home commands a price
A Berkeley home owned by comedian, actress and talk show host Whoopi Goldberg proved to be one hot-ticket item.
Listed for sale at $1.275 million, the Victorian-style estate on about one-third of an acre sold for $2.025 million, or $750,000 above the asking price. The property previously sold three decades ago for $335,000.
The vintage two-story, built in 1890, features such classic details as a front porch embellished with delicate fretwork, double-hung windows and wood finishes. The 1,455-square-foot home includes an updated kitchen, formal living and dining rooms and three bedrooms.
Adjacent to the main house is a detached barn/cottage with three rooms, a second kitchen and a full bathroom in 1,635 square feet. A screened sun room/porch with a fireplace is topped by a row of skylights.
The grounds center on a tree-topped patio with curved brick planters and a large expanse of grass.
Goldberg, 59, moved to the East Bay during the late 1970s and was active in the local improv scene, performing with the Blake Street Hawkeyes Theater troupe.
The television and film actress is known for her Oscar-winning role in “Ghost” (1990) as well as “The Color Purple” (1985), “Sister Act” (1992) and the TV series “Star Trek: The Next Generation.” She has been a panelist on “The View” since 2007.

Pair lobs home onto market
Former top-ranked men’s tennis player Andy Roddick and his wife, actress-model Brooklyn Decker, put their home in Cheviot Hills on the market for $3.395 million and in days accepted an offer.
Built in 2007, the walled and gated contemporary has an industrial vibe with floor-to-ceiling glass, exposed steel beams and dark wood floors.
Living and dining rooms, a center-island kitchen, an office and a third-floor bonus area that opens to a rooftop deck are included in the home’s 4,900 square feet. There are five bedrooms and five bathrooms, including an updated master suite complete with a walk-in closet, a soaking tub and a glass-enclosed shower.
An elevator services each of the home’s three floors.
Roddick and Decker, who own another property in Texas, bought the house in 2013 for $2,792,500.

Happily ever after in Encino?
Actors Ginnifer Goodwin and Josh Dallas, both on the television show “Once Upon a Time,” have bought a Traditional-style home in Encino for $3.45 million.
The 5,758-square-foot home’s interior appears to have received a liberal slathering of white paint before the sale, but the home’s 1935 vintage charm shines through the beveled glass windows despite the recent improvements.
A formal entry, a living room with a fireplace, a formal dining room, a bar, a playroom, a gym, six bedrooms, five bathrooms and a powder room are within the two stories of living space.
The one-third-acre lot has magnificent mature trees and a tall privacy hedge. A saltwater swimming pool and a built-in barbecue with a bar are among the outdoor amenities.
The property previously changed hands in 2007 for $3.1 million.
Goodwin, 37, has starred on the fantasy-adventure series since it started four years ago. She has done extensive voice work and starred in the films “Something Borrowed” (2011) and “Walk the Line” (2005).
Dallas, 36, appeared in the movies “Red Tails” (2012), “Thor” (2011) and “The Descent: Part 2” (2009).
