Donna Karan puts island retreat on market for $39 million

Fashion designer Donna Karan has put a seven-acre beachfront property on Parrot Cay in the Turks and Caicos Islands up for sale at $39 million.

Part of 10 acres she owns at the Caribbean location, the island estate called the Sanctuary fronts the white-sand beach and ocean. Two villas surrounded by lush vegetation make up the compound.

Each four-bedroom house features a second-floor ocean-view master suite and an infinity-edge pool. Cedar and coral stone walls, teak furniture and artwork from far-flung locales in Africa and Bali are among interior details.

A screened-in guest pavilion with outdoor wood terraces creates a centerpiece and gathering place on the property. There’s an adjacent third swimming pool, a kitchen pavilion, a yoga pavilion, staff quarters and storage pavilions.

Karan, 66, left Anne Klein in 1985 to launch the label bearing her name. She created the Donna Karan New York and DKNY clothing lines and has a fragrance line. Forbes estimates her net worth at $400 million.

Rick Moeser of Christie’s International Real Estate and Katherine Baryluk of Regency, an affiliated office, are the listing agents.
