Maroon 5’s Mickey Madden parts with Craig Ellwood-designed home in Los Feliz

Maroon 5 bassist Mickey Madden has hit the right note with a buyer in Los Feliz, selling his modernist home in the historic Los Angeles neighborhood for $2.239 million.

The single-story home, designed by Craig Ellwood, embodies the architect’s minimalist California style with clean lines, perimeter hallways and free-flowing living spaces. Walls of floor-to-ceiling windows wrap the home, bringing the landscaped grounds inside.

Within the 1,701 square feet of interiors is a living/dining area with a long fireplace feature extending across one wall. A kitchen with a pass-through opening, a bonus room, three bedrooms and two bathrooms complete the floor plan.

Outdoors, park-like grounds of a third of an acre are filled with walkways, mature trees, lawn and a koi pond. An outdoor sitting area sits off the entrance to the 1960s home.

The musician bought the house more than a decade ago for $2 million. Last year, he purchased another home in the area for $3.28 million, according to public records.

Aaron Kirman of John Aaroe Group was the listing agent. Rob Johnson of Rodeo Realty was the buyer and represented himself in the transaction.

Madden, 37, got his start with the pop-rock band Kara’s Flowers, which later disbanded and reformed as Maroon 5. The group has won three Grammys, including Best New Artist in 2005.
