Basketball’s Paul Westphal looks to court a buyer for Palos Verdes Estates home
Retired basketball player and former coach Paul Westphal has put his Palos Verdes Estates home of more than a decade on the market for $3.499 million.
Sitting up from the street on about half an acre, the Hacienda-style home boasts such character details as a rotunda entry, beamed ceilings and stone and hardwood floors. Large picture windows bring views of the lush grounds inside.
Within the 4,500 square feet of living space are formal living and dining rooms, an updated kitchen, an office, four bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms. An attached casita adds another bedroom en suite.
Outside, a blanket of mature trees and landscaping surrounds various patios and sitting areas. Also on the property are two outdoor fireplaces, waterfall features and a spa. A two-car garage sits off the front entry.
Chris Adlam of Vista Sotheby’s International Realty holds the listing, according to the Multiple Listing Service.
Westphal, 66, has ties to Southern California having starred at USC and, before that, Aviation High in Redondo Beach.
The former Celtics and Suns guard played 12 seasons in the NBA, making five all-star teams and winning a title with Boston in 1974. As a head coach, Westphal led Phoenix to the NBA Finals in 1993. He also coached the Seattle SuperSonics and Sacramento Kings.
More recently he spent three seasons as the top assistant to Lionel Hollins and the Brooklyn Nets.
