Bob Hope’s Lautner house in Palm Springs for sale at $50 million

The home designed by renowned Modern architect John Lautner for comedian Bob Hope and his wife, Dolores, is for sale in Palm Springs for $50 million.

Sited to overlook the Coachella Valley, the concrete, steel and glass house was built in 1979 and has about 22,000 square feet of living space. The curving copper roof plays off the shape of the nearby mountains. There are six bedrooms and 12 bathrooms, according to public records.

Murals on the first floor and the pool area are by Garth Benton, who did the murals at the Malibu Getty. In addition to the swimming pool, outdoor amenities include a pond, a tennis court and an outdoor fireplace.

Hope, who died in 2003 at 100, appeared in scores of films including the “Road” series with Bing Crosby. Dolores hope died in 2011 at 102.
