Zac Efron puts Hollywood Hills West home up for sale
Zac Efron has put his chic home in Hollywood Hills West up for sale at $2.849 million.
Originally designed for the Case Study Program by Rodney Walker, the home was eventually built in 1947 and has been updated with an industrial vibe.
The actor-singer apparently has an eye for Midcentury Modern homes. He bought a Hollywood Hills house built in 1964 last fall for $3.995 million.
Features of the home Efron is selling include walls of glass, two bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms and 2,424 square feet of living space. The concrete floors in the open-concept house are heated.
There also is an infinity-edge swimming pool on the nearly third of an acre lot.
The property last changed hands in 2008 for $2.35 million.
Efron, 26, became a teen heartthrob in the films “High School Musical” and “Hairspray,” as well as the TV series “Summerland.” He starred this year in “That Awkward Moment” and will be in “Neighbors,” set for May release. He was a presenter this year at the 86th Academy Awards.

McCourt moving her home base?
Jamie McCourt has put her Westside estate on the market at $55 million.
The former Dodgers chief executive and co-owner bought the property a decade ago with her then-husband Frank McCourt for close to its $25 million asking price, according to Times archives.
The compound, built in 1931, sits on 2.6 acres behind gates at the end of a several-hundred-foot-long driveway. Designed for grand-scale entertaining, the contemporary European-style villa features a step-down living room, a commercial kitchen, an art studio, an atrium, a bar, a billiard room, a home theater, a library/study, a dance studio and a wine cellar.
Besides the main house are a guesthouse, a staff apartment and a pool house. There are five bedrooms and six bathrooms in 20,637 square feet of living space.
The indoor swimming pool has a spa as well as steam and massage rooms.
The Times Mapping Database considers the community to be Westwood, while the Multiple Listing Service references it as Holmby Hills. The estate is near the Playboy Mansion.
McCourt, 60, bought a 22-acre vineyard estate in Napa in the fall for $11.25 million.

Bonds hits one out of Beverly Park
Barry Bonds, the former All-Star outfielder, has sold his Italian-inspired estate in gated Beverly Park for $22 million.
Designed as a family home with the capacity of hosting large-scale events, the 17,100-square-foot villa sits off a circular motor court with a fountain. The 1.85 acres of grounds include a swimming pool, a 2,100-square-foot sports court and an olive grove.
Ceiling heights up to 30 feet, hand-painted murals, limestone columns and Venetian plaster walls are among interior details. Aquariums flank the living room fireplace.
There is a walnut-paneled office, a 12-seat theater, a game room, a wine cellar, a gym, seven bedrooms and 13 bathrooms.
Bonds, 49, played for the Pittsburgh Pirates and San Francisco Giants during a two-decade-plus career that included seven most valuable player honors. He recently put on a Giants uniform once again for a stint as a spring training instructor.
Despite being the all-time home-run leader, Bonds has failed to gain entrance into baseball’s Hall of Fame. He was convicted in 2011 for obstruction of justice related to the government’s investigation of steroid use and the Bay Area Laboratory Co-Operative (BALCO).
He paid $8.7 million for the property in 2002, public records show.

Moving up in the real O.C.
Lauren Conrad, who gained fame on the reality show “Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County,” has moved up in that beach city to an oceanfront home that cost her $8.5 million.
The single-story home is set on nearly half an acre and has knockout views of the bay and coastline. Built in 1937 and remodeled, the house features a new kitchen, vaulted beamed ceilings, wood-plank flooring, three bedrooms and four bathrooms.
The gated community offers tennis, parks, a clubhouse and a private beach.
The 28-year-old Conrad, born and raised in Laguna Beach, starred in “The Hills” (2006-09) after “Laguna Beach” (2004-05). Also a fashion designer with her own clothing lines, Conrad has appeared on “Fashion News Live” and “Entertainment Tonight.”
She has a nearby home in the Three Arch Bay area listed for sale at $2.695 million.

$12 million to be enthusiastic about
Larry David curbed his asking price on his gated Pacific Palisades estate by more than $2 million and found a buyer for $12 million.
The nearly 1-acre property includes an English country-style main house, a guesthouse, mature trees and a swimming pool. Used-brick fireplaces, half-timbering and steeply vaulted ceilings are among the features. The 11,272 square feet of living space includes seven bedrooms and 10 bathrooms.
There are canyon, city and ocean views from the property.
David, 66, was a writer, producer and actor in “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” which he created in 2000. He was the head writer and an executive producer for “Seinfeld,” winning an Emmy for the comedy series.

Santa Barbara ranch pitched
Ron Popeil, the inventor and pitchman without parallel who founded the company Ronco, has listed his Rancho Quinta Ladera for sale in the Santa Barbara area at $4.995 million.
The 150-acre manzanita- and oak-studded property includes riding trails, natural springs and 360-degree views.
An 1898 adobe house, a guesthouse, a swimming pool, a pool house, outbuildings, a six-stall barn, a riding arena, riding pens and a 700-tree olive grove are among the amenities. There are five bedrooms and three bathrooms.
But wait.... There’s more! Two redwood trees planted on the site by President Theodore Roosevelt still stand.
Popeil, 78, made such products as Veg-O-Matic and Pocket Fisherman household names.
