Barry Bonds, the former All-Star outfielder, has sold his Italian-inspired estate in gated Beverly Park for $22 million.
Designed as a family home with the capacity of hosting large-scale events, the 17,100-square-foot villa sits off a circular motor court with a fountain. The 1.85 acres of grounds include a swimming pool, a 2,100-square-foot sports court and an olive grove.
Ceiling heights up to 30 feet, hand-painted murals, limestone columns and Venetian plaster walls are among interior details. Aquariums flank the living room fireplace.
There is a walnut-paneled office, a 12-seat theater, a game room, a wine cellar, a gym, seven bedrooms and 13 bathrooms.
Bonds, 49, played for the
Despite being the all-time home-run leader, Bonds has failed to gain entrance into baseball's Hall of Fame. He was convicted in 2011 for obstruction of justice related to the government's investigation of steroid use and the Bay Area Laboratory Co-Operative (BALCO).
He paid $8.7 million for the property in 2002, public records show.
