‘Driving Miss Daisy’ house in Atlanta listed at $2 million

The Atlanta house that was the setting for the film “Driving Miss Daisy” is on the market at $1.995 million.

The 1922 house sits on a tree-lined street with other older homes in the Druid Hills area near Emory University, shops and restaurants.

The 6,140 square feet of living space has been redecorated since the 1989 film won four Oscars. But when filming was going on the house was used as-is.

“They didn’t change the paint, the wallpaper, anything,” said Coldwell Banker agent Doris Robinson, who has the listing. The timeless look of the street and the never-renovated home’s appearance, she said, “were pretty much why they chose the house.”

Since then, the interiors have been redecorated, the attic opened up to add two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a play area and the kitchen updated with marble countertops and stainless-steel appliances. There also is a two-bedroom guesthouse for a total six bedrooms and 5.5 bathrooms.

The arched overhang on the front door, the wooden staircase and overall look and style of the house, though, remain the same.

The listing has generated nationwide interest but has yet to find a buyer, Robinson said. “We don’t have that many buyers in that price range right now.”
