T-Mobile to sell Galaxy S III for free this weekend with contract

T-Mobile will be holding an early Black Friday sale this weekend when customers can get the Samsung Galaxy S III smartphone for free when they sign up for a new two-year contract.

Customers will have to pay the phone’s price up front this weekend, but T-Mobile said it will mail them a gift card with the full value of the device that can be used for purchases wherever Visa cards are accepted.

The GS3 will be available for $299.99 up front this weekend to customers who sign up for T-Mobile’s Classic plan. They’ll then get a card with the same value.

For customers who sign up for T-Mobile’s Unlimited Value plan, the GS3 will cost $199.99 up front, but they’ll receive a card valued at $199.99.

The GS3 is one of the most popular Android smartphones, and since launching in May, Samsung has sold more than 30 million units of the phone worldwide.

But the popular GS3 won’t be the only available Samsung phone in this weekend’s sale. Also eligible are the Galaxy S Relay 4G, the Galaxy S II, the Galaxy S Blaze 4G and the Galaxy Exhibit 4G smartphones.

A notable exemption to the sale is the new 5.5-inch Galaxy Note II smartphone/tablet hybrid device.

Customers won’t be able to get the massive phone for free, but T-Mobile said it is being discounted to $99 after signing up for a two-year Unlimited Value plan contract and sending in a mail-in rebate. It’s also available discounted to $199 for those who choose the Classic plan and send in a rebate card.

The sale begins Friday and ends on Saturday.
