The new season at L.A. Theatre Works is scheduled to feature a roster of top-notch theater names, including Neil LaBute, Tracy Letts and David Auburn. In addition, actors Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Hamish Linklater are to reprise their roles in Shakespeare’s “The Comedy of Errors,” having both appeared this summer in the Public Theater’s production in New York’s Central Park.

L.A. Theatre Works produces radio-theater performances of new and classic plays staged at the James Bridges Theatre at UCLA. All performances take place Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m., with matinees on Saturdays at 3 p.m. and Sundays at 4 p.m.

Audio recordings of the performances are made available for purchase via digital download or on CD. The company has also toured with its productions internationally. Radio broadcasts of the plays can be heard locally on KPFK-FM (90.7).

Kicking off the scheduled 2013-14 season will be LaBute’s “Reasons to be Pretty” (Sept. 19-22). Thomas Sadoski (HBO’s “The Newsroom”), who appeared in the play when it ran on Broadway in 2009, will return for this production. The season will close with Lett’s “August: Osage County” (July 10-13), with many of the original cast members from the Steppenwolf Theatre production, including Deanna Dunagan and Rondi Reed.

David Mamet’s adaptation of Chekhov’s “Uncle Vanya” (Oct. 17-20) will feature Stacy Keach and Mamet’s daughter, Zosia Mamet, who is currently a cast member of the HBO series “Girls.”

Auburn’s “The Columnist” (Nov. 14-17) will star JoBeth Williams in a production directed by actress Marsha Mason. The play, about newspaper columnist Joseph Alsop, ran on Broadway in 2012.

“The Comedy of Errors” (Jan. 30 to Feb. 2) will star Ferguson and Linklater in Shakespeare’s farcical tale of two sets of twins who become entangled in a plot involving mistaken identity. The Public’s production this summer received critical acclaim when it ran at the Delacorte Theatre.

Sharr White’s “The Other Place” (Mar. 13-16) will feature Calista Flockhart as a neurologist whose personal life begins to unravel when her health takes a turn for the worse and her husband decides to leave her. The play ran on Broadway earlier this year following an off-Broadway run in 2011.

Rounding out the season will be Culture Clash’s “American Night: The Ballad of Juan José” (May 15-18) and an adaptation of Arthur Conan Doyle’s “The Hound of the Baskervilles” (June 12-15).

L.A. Theatre Works said that it will tour its radio theater production of “The Graduate” to 27 U.S. cities starting in October.
