BermanBraun becomes Whalerock Industries
With one of its two big fish gone, BermanBraun has changed its name to Whalerock Industries.
The Santa Monica TV production and digital media company, owned by veteran media executive Lloyd Braun, made the announcement Friday.
Braun’s founding partner, Gail Berman, cut bait late last month, prompting a name change for the company that employs 150 people.

Braun separately announced that he has elevated Andrew Mittman to run the company’s newly combined film and scripted TV divisions. Mittman has been in charge of the firm’s small film unit since 2009.
In addition, Jenna Glazier has been promoted to senior vice president of television and film. It was announced that Gene Stein would leave the firm.
Whalerock Industries maintains a TV and film production deal with MGM.

“This reorganization reflects our approach to development throughout the company,” Braun said in a prepared statement. “The traditional lines between media are increasingly blurred -- particularly in film and television.”
Whalerock has several prominent digital brands, including Wonderwall, Moviefone and PawNation.
Braun, who was the inspiration for a fictional character on “Seinfeld,” rose to prominence as head of ABC Entertainment from 2002 to April 2004. The lawyer-turned-TV-executive went on run the Yahoo Media Group in Santa Monica from 2004 to 2006. After leaving Yahoo, Braun founded BermanBraun with Berman in 2007.
