Movie-goers are ready to marvel at
Fandango, the nation's largest online ticket company, said on Wednesday that the upcoming
James Gunn's sci-fi action film, starring
"In a year filled with sequels and remakes, 'Guardians' feels fresher and more fun than any superhero movie so far this year," said Fandango Chief Correspondent Dave Karger in a statement.
After surveying more than 1,000 "Guardians" ticket-buyers, Fandango determined that 95% of those surveyed are attracted to the film's off-the-wall humor.
Already, 80% of those surveyed said they are interested in seeing additional "Guardians" movies even though 58% said they were previously unfamiliar with the "Guardians" comic books.
"Fans are craving the film's originality and that's translating to stellar advance ticket sales for a franchise first," Karger said.
About 85% of those surveyed said they are looking forward to seeing Pratt in his breakout role as Peter Quill ("Star-Lord").
The 2-hour film will hit theaters Friday.
